Mrs. Aleene Swor Johnson, 83, pased away in Coleman County

Medical Center December 21, 2004. Services are today (Thursday) at 2 p.m. at Walker Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. John Stanislaw, minister of the First Baptist Church of Coleman, officiating. Interment followed in Oplin Cemetery, under the direction of Walker Funeral Home of Coleman.

She was born October 17, 1921 to Jim and Josie Head Swor in Oplin, Texas. She was married to Leonard Johnson in Potosi, July 26, 1936. She rode a mule with her brothers and sisters to a one-room school, Jim Ned School. She and Leonard move from Oplin to Novice in 1950 where they farmed and ranched, then to Coleman in 1964. She was well known in the 1960's and 1970's as a seamstress. She made western suits for many of Coleman's rodeo queens statewide. She worked for Buddies #1 Convenience Store for more than 20 years, beginning in the early 1970's. She also loved cooking and gardening. People remember her as a kind and loving person who was always willing to help anyone in need. She came from a long line of Texasn; the Swor family settled in Texas prior to 1845; the Bogarts in 1939; the Heads in 1950's; and the Singletons in 1828.

She is survived by her husband, Leonard of Coleman; two daughters and sons-in-law, Pat and Bob Gordon of Fort Worth, Pam and Robert Kincaid of Corpus Christi; two sons, Richard and Ellen Johnson of Novice and Larry Johnson of Oplin. seven grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by a grandson, Cody Johnson; two sisters, Evelyn Stansberry and Imogene Swor; and three brothers, Jake, Glen and Durward Swor. Memorials may be made to Burkett and Oplin Cemetery Associations or Coleman Youth Center.
