Pioneer Rancher, Charlie Yost, Dies

Charlie Yost, a Tecumseh community rancher most of his 90 years, died at 11:30 a.m. Monday in Hendrick Memorial Hospital.

"Uncle Charlie" Yost suffered a stroke a week ago in his Rt. 2 Clyde home and had been hospitalized since. Funeral plans will be announced by Elliott's Funeral Home.

Mr. Yost was born Dec 5, 1875 at Dayton, Ohio. His family moved to Texas when he was a year old and settle in the Colony Hill community just south of the present location of Abilene State School.

They move to the Tecumseh community shortly after where Mr. Yost, a rancher, had resided since. He was a bachelor. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church at Tecumseh when it existed.

Surviving are six nieces, Mrs. Christine Davis of 726 Grand, Mrs. Anna Lee Harrison of 2725 Russell, Mrs. Alice Taylor of Rt. 2 Clyde, Mrs. Josephine Chrane and Mrs. Lena Mae Chrane, both of Rt. 2 Abilene; five nephews, Henry Preston of Gladewater, Walter Preston of Rt. 2 Albany, George Preston of Abilene, George Yost of Lawn, Charlie Stevenson of Rt. 2 Clyde.
