Roy Poindexter, 48, Found Dead; Rites At Oplin Thursday

BAIRD, Sept. 7 (RNS) - Roy Poindexter, 48, died Tuesday morning in the yard of his Oplin home. He was found dead in the yard, where he had gone to feed the chickens. Mr. Poindexter had lived all his life with his mother, Mrs. Florence Poindexter, 83 of Oplin.

Funeral will he held at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Oplin Church of Christ. David Coughman, minister, is to officiate.

Burial is to be in Tecumseh Cemetery under direction of the Wylie Funeral Home of Baird.

Mr. Poindexter was born Jan. 27, 1906, in Callahan County. He was preceded in death by his father and two brothers.

Survivors are his mother; seven brothers, Jess, Tom, and Burland all of Oplin, John and Mart, both of Baird, and Melton and Robert Poindexter of Casa Grande, Ariz.; four sisters. Mrs. Phil Yost of Oplin, Mrs. T. C. Russell of Route 2, Abilene, Mrs. W. F. Gorman and Mrs. Ellie Neal, both of Baird, and many nieces and nephews.
