Mac McBane was a road overseer, using heavy road machinery, horse-drawn to carve out roads for the area. He also held the elections of Oplin until his death in 1941. He served for many years on the School Board of Trustees.

Longtime Oplin Resident, 80, Dies
Luther Lewis McBane, 80-year-old resident of Oplin for 43 years, died at his home Thursday night after an eight weeks illness.
McBane was a native of Greenville, Ind., where he was born on May 2, 1861.
Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Jessie McBane; two daughters, Mrs. Viola Peery, Los Angeles, and Mrs. Howard Kearnes of Lubbock, and by two grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete, pending receipt of word from relatives in California. Elliott's Funeral Home is directing the arrangements.
