R. E. Lewis Dies; Baird, Rites Today

BAIRD (RNS) - Raymond E. Lewis, 67, a retired city employee, died in his Coleman residence Monday about 9:45 p.m. after a brief illness.

Funeral will be held Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. in the Dudley Methodist Church. Burial will be in Tecumseh Cemetery near Dudley. Godfrey Funeral Home of Baird is in charge.

Mr. Lewis was born Feb. 23, 1890, in Erath County. He had lived in the Tecumseh Community most of his life, going to Coleman 12 years ago. He worked for the City of Coleman until his retirement eight years ago.

A member of the Methodist Church, Mr. Lewis also was a veteran of World War I. He married Willie Hodges in Abilene in 1932.

Survivors include the wife; one step-son, Harold Snyder of Clyde; six sisters, Mrs. Ida Owens of Bangs, Mrs. Myrtle Loper of Abilene, Mrs. Grace Cooper of Fort Worth, Mrs. Gladys Gandy of San Antonio, Mrs. Goldie Owens of 5258 Pueblo, Abilene, and Miss Jewel Lewis of Sweetwater; two brothers, W. W. of Luther, Tex., and Ewell of Gail, Tex., and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas.

Nephews will serve as pallbearers.
