Mrs. Winnie Jordan
OPLIN – Mrs. Winnie Windham Jordan, 85, of Oplin died at 5:55 pm Saturday in Hendricks Memorial Hospital after a short illness. Services will be held at 2:30 pm Monday at Oplin Baptist Church.
The Rev. Dan Burrow, Baptist minister, will officiate. Burial will be in Tecumseh Cemetery, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home.
Born July 9, 1890, in Oplin, she had lived all her life within two miles of where she was born. She received her education at Tecumseh and Baird.
She married John Jordan Dec. 12, 1920, in Oplin. He died Oct. 4, 1972. She was a member of the Oplin Methodist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star in Lawn, receiving her 50-year pin in 1962.
Her relatives have been prominent Callahan County ranchers for many years.
Survivors include a foster daughter, Mrs. Jim Jones of 4114 S. 20th St., Abilene, two brothers, Tom Windham Jr. of Oplin and Frank Windham of Baird; a sister Mrs. Charlie Straley of Oplin; and numerous nieces and nephews. Nephews will be the pallbearers. The family requests that remembrances be made to West Texas Rehabilitation Center.
