John T. Jordan

OPLIN - John T. Jordan, 74, died at 7:30 p.m. Monday at his residence in Oplin.

Funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday in the Oplin Baptist Church. Officiating will be the Rev. Dan Burrow, minister. Burial will be in the Tecumseh Cemetery under direction of Elliot's Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Albert Betcher, G. T. May, Ray Floyd, Jack Poindexter, Bernice Nichols, Orin Baines, Jack May and Charlie Stephenson.

Born Jan. 8 1896, in Lampasas, he moved to Oplin when he was 19 years old. He married Winnie Windham in Oplin on Dec. 21, 1920. He lived in his ranch until his death. He was a member of the Oplin Methodist Church and a veteran of World War I.

Survivors include his wife of the home; one daughter, Mrs. Shirley Jones, 1309 Buccaneer; two grandchildren, John Brand and Nichole Jones, 1309 Buccaneer; two sisters, Mrs. Bess Brown of Fort Worth and Mrs. Ruby Elliott of Lockhart; and a number of nieces and nephews.
