John was the second to the last Confederate Soldier left in Union County at the time of his passing. My great grandfather, James Knox Polk Burnett, was the last CSA soldier left at the time of his death on Jan. 3, 1929 A combined newspaper article and obit for James is on file which ran in the Knoxville paper in Jan. 1929. The two obits for John were furnished by my Miller cousin, Karen Chandler. The obit for my g grandfather, James Knox Polk Burnett, cousin to John Miller who is mentioned in the death notice was from my grandmother, Della Jane McBee Burnett of Sharps Chapel
