BAIRD, Dec. 25 (RNS) – Mrs. Martha Jane Gilliland, Callahan County's oldest woman at 97, died about 8 pm Saturday at Callahan County Hospital here after a week's illness.
She was born Oct 6, 1857 in Camden County, Ark. She came to Texas in 1871 and was a resident of Callahan County for 83 years.
Services will be held at 2 pm Sunday in Wylie Funeral Chapel with Rev. Royce Womack, Methodist pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Tecumseh Cemetery.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Gilliland, a son and two daughters. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. V. E. Hill, and four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers are Ace Hickman, Jack Gilliland, Erle Hall, L. L. Blackburn, John S??, and Sam Gilliland.
