Eb Ferguson worked as a rancher for Jim Cauble of San Angelo for many years and during the ranger Oil Field boom-days cooked for an oil field hand's camp. In 1918 Hattie Zoe Wright died in childbirth. In 1923 Eb Ferguson moved into the Oplin Community of Callahan County. He was left with four small children. His children remember him as both father and mother, teaching them to cook, keep house and perform task necessary to raising a family. He leased land at Oplin and in the Belle Plain areas and engaged in farming and raising livestock. (from I Remember Callahan County 1986)
