CLYDE - M.D. Ellis, 89, died Thursday in a local care center.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Clyde First Baptist Church with Dr. Jerry Joplin officiating. Burial will be in Tecumseh Cemetery, directed by Bailey Funeral Home.

Mr. Ellis was born in Wingate and married Edna Alene "Toad" Byrd in 1937 in Sweetwater. He served with the U.S. Army in the European Theatre during World War II. He worked in highway construction and moved to Clyde in 1960 from Abilene. He was Callahan County Precinct 3 commissioner for eight years and was a member of First Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife of Clyde; one son, Terry Marlin Ellis of Tecumseh; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
