Albert Betcher Dies at Oplin
BAIRD, Dec. 15 (RNS) – Albert Betcher Sr., 89, pioneer resident of the Oplin community, died about 11.30 a.m. Wednesday at his home at Oplin.

He had been ill for about six months. He was a farmer.

Born June 9, 1865 in Preissen, Germany, Mr. Betcher came to Texas when he was 14. He had lived in the Oplin community most of his life. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Lillie Jenson Betcher, on Dec 7, 1931.

Survivors include three sons, R. T. and John Betcher, both of San Bernadino, Calif., and Albert Betcher Jr. of Oplin; a daughter, Mrs. C. P. Clouse of Vinita, Okla., two sisters, Mrs. E. M. Wristen of Baird and Mrs. Olvino Cutbirth, whose address was not known; two brothers, Otto and Henry Betcher of Dudley; and 20 grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three sons and a daughter.

Funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in the Oplin Baptist Church. Burial by Wylie Funeral Home of Baird will be in Tecumseh Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Ernest Gwin, Lucian Warren, Andrew Johnson, Walter Johnson, Lowell Johnson, and Sidney Harville.

The surviving sister, "Mrs. E.M. Wristen of Baird", mentioned in the obituary on this memorial page for Albert Betcher, Sr. is Emma Betcher Wristen, wife of Edward Monroe Wristen. They are also buried in Callahan County, in nearby Baird, Texas (Ross Cemetery). Emma Betcher Wristen is the daughter of Elisabeth "Libby" and August Betcher (originally spelled "Boettcher").
