James F. Barton, Callahan County Pioneer, Buried

OPLIN, Feb. 8.—Last rites for J. F. (Uncle Jim) Barton, 78, one of Callahan county's earliest and most esteemed ranch settlers, were said at his home in the Tecumseh community by the Rev. Dick Bright, former pastor of the Oplin Baptist church. Burial was in the Tecumseh cemetery, with Oplin Masonic lodge members in charge.

Mr. Barton died Thursday night at 8:30 o'clock at his Tecumseh home, established 52 years ago. He was born in North Carolina, Jan. 5, 1852; He had been a member of the Christian church for 40 years.

Surviving Mr. Barton are his wife, and seven children; Jim Barton of Tecumseh; Mrs. Sam Johnson of Sweetwater; Mrs. Eugene Jones of Seymour; Mrs. Dorcas Crawford of Clyde, Homer and Seth Barton of Pampa and Miss Uphia Barton of Tecumseh. Two brothers, Perry Barton of Eula and Cull Barton of Burnet County, also survive.
