Perry Ball was born in Pennsylvania and at a very young age moved with his family to Hardin County, Kentucky. He moved to Indiana by 1870 where he lived with a cousin William M. Ball and his family and worked as an apprentice to William, a blacksmith. Died from injuries received working in the U.S. Board and Paper Company's box factory in Carthage, Indiana.
