***Mrs J.A. Grigsby passed away on April 19, 1932 at her late home 5 miles northwest of Elmer after a lingering illness which confined her to her bed the past six months, Nancy Elizabeth Gunnels, daughter of Daniel W. and Susan Gunnels, was born March 6, 1867 and passed to the life beyond at the age of 65 years. 1 month and 13 days.
***She was united in marriage to J.A.Grigsby on July 8, 1897. Twin boys, dying in infancy passed on before her. She is survived by her devoted husband and three children, Miss Beulah Opal of the home who gave her such loving and constant care; John Aaron and Mrs Theta Easley of Elmer who did all in their power to relieve her suffering and were continually with her.She is also survived by seven grandchildren, two sisters, Miss Sarah Gunnels of Macon, MO; Mrs Rhoda Bright of Boise, Idaho, two brothers, John Gunnels of golden, Color,. and J.H, Gunnels of Elmer, MO.,besides many other relatives and a host of friends to mourn the loss of one whose place can never be filled. To know her was to love her.
***Coming from a family of pioneer settlers in this vicinity she spent her entire life in this community. Before her marriage, she taught in her home, school and adjoining district and all hr pupils remained her friends. At her request, her former pupils were her pall bearers. Forty years ago she confessed her faith in her Lord and united with the United Brethren church keeping her faith in her heavenly Father;s love and care until the end. She said all had been done that loving hands could do. Her slightest wish was always granted, It was a comfort to her to know that she had so many friends and that they all remember her so much.
***Although she has now passed on to a more beautiful resting place may we all live the beautiful example of life so that some day we may join her and there part no more.
***Funeral services were conducted by Elder Ralph B. Turner at the Bell Funeral Home on Friday afternoon at 1:30 and interment was made in the Bell cemetery. Flower bearers were Junior,Jim,Dean and Doris Grigsby and Edwin Gunnels. Music was rendered by the Elmer quartette, Mrs. Lura Smith, Mrs Jennie Miller and Messrs Clansson and J.O.
