He next married Lucille Wyatt on January 2, 1927 in Birmingham, Jefferson County, Alabama. He and Lucille had two sons; James Jr. and Paul. Daddy and Lucille divorced on January 23, 1935 Birmingham, Jefferson County, Alabama.
Daddy married my mother Bernice Gober on October 6, 1940 in Buchanon, Haralson County, Georgia. Daddy and Mom had one child, Joyce.

James Amberson, in the dry cleaning and restaurant business for a number of years, died at home Saturday. He was 64.
Funeral services to be held Monday at Brown-Service Chapel in Norwood. Burial at Oneonta.
Survivors - include his wife Mrs. Bernice May Amberson , 2 daughters Joyce Ann of Birmingham and Mrs. Nellie Ruth Reaves of Gadsden, 2 sons Paul and Jimmie Amberson of San Diego, CA, 3 brothers J. P., D. C. and Ross all of Birmingham and 2 sisters Mrs. Bessie Pritchett of Gainesville, FL, Mrs. Vera Harris of Birmingham, 6 grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
