The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, October 25, at Colonial Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Mayodan Municipal Cemetery with military honors provided by the Rockingham County Honor Guard and N.C. National Guard.
Mr. Barton was born July 10, 1952, in Guilford County, to Donald Irving Barton and the late Virginia Vernon Shelton. He was a U.S. Air Force Vietnam veteran, a former member of the Madison Rockingham Rescue Squad and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He was employed with Rooms-To-Go Furniture.
In addition to his father, he is survived by his wife of 11 years, Amy Ziglar Barton and daughter, Christal Dawn Barton of Mayodan; daughter, Christina M. Sherrill and husband, William, of Kernersville; and brothers, Darryl Barton, Timothy Barton, Johnny Shelton and Douglas Shelton.
