Death Of A Noble Woman
The death of Mrs. Hannah Slack Blaine on Wednesday, Nov. 24, was a shock to her many friends and acquaintances. She had not enjoyed good health for several years. A few days before her death she was taken ill and passed away after all had been done to ease her suffering.
Mrs. Blaine was born in England, 70 years ago. She married George Blaine, now deceased, and five children were born to them, of which two are living, John Blaine and Mrs. Isabell Beck.
The funeral was held Monday, November 29, at the South ward church. Bishop Ware officiating. The choir under the leadership of Thos. Ransom sang appropriate songs. Wm. A. Warnock, an intimate friend of Mrs. Blaine and husband in earlier days, spoke of the good, kind disposition of the departed sister. Mrs. Philena Warnock spoke of Mrs. Blaine's work in the Relief Society years ago. Alma Magleby offered comforting words to the bereaved family. Bishop Ware spoke of his acquaintance with Mrs. Blaine since she moved from the farm north of town into the South ward; of her desire to keep her record good as a member of the Latter-Day-Saints. Burial took place at the Monroe Cemetery.
