Madras resident Violet Lillian Watson died Dec. 23, 2006, at the age of 91.
Mrs. Watson was born March 5, 1915, in Eugene to parents William and Frances (Sisley) James. She married Earl Watson on Jan. 13, 1934, in Eugene.
The Watsons moved to Madras in 1948 and bought a farm. She was a homemaker, mother and devoted farm wife. She belonged to the First Baptist Church of Madras, and the Rebekah Lodge, and the Go and Sew Club.
She enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and loved working in her flower and vegetable gardens.
Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Ronald and Patricia Watson of Madras, Duane and Pat Watson of Roseburg; daughter and son-in-law, Marna and Gordon Hebert of Gresham; grandchildren, Pam Watson, Robyn Rosenfield, Ronda Pierson, all of Madras, Kevin Watson of Bend, Katrina Hansen-Lane of Roseburg, Shanan Leamen of Portland, and Shelley Ogden of Vancouver, Wash.; 18 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, two brothers, and seven sisters.
The funeral service was held Dec. 28, at the First Baptist Church in Madras, followed by burial at the Mount Jefferson Memorial Park Cemetery in Madras. Memorial contributions have been suggested to Mountain View Hospice. Arrangements were under the direction of Bel-Air Colonial Funeral Home of Madras.
