The Sturdevants migrated to Nebraska from the State of Pennsylvania in 1871. Joseph Sturdevant, Rose' father, was the first railroad depot agent in Mead, Nebraska.
Rose grew up in Saunders and Holt Counties, in Nebraska. At the age of 24, she married a young dentist named Dwight Lyman Thompson. They married on 30 September 1903.
Together, the couple had four children: Burton Theodore (1905-1998), Harold J (died as infant 1907-1908), Gerald (Jack) Norvin (1910-1995) and Lucille Peterson (1912-2007).
The Thompson family located to Gothenburg in 1905, where they lived out their lives. Dr Thompson had his dental practice there. Rose was a talented piano player.
Rose lived to be nearly 100 years old, and passed from this world on 21 February, 1979. She is buried in Gothenburg Cemetery, with her husband and infant son.
