Death of Mrs. Katharine M. Koch
On Thursday afternoon of last week the Holstein-Treloar community was shocked to hear the news of the sudden death of Mrs. Katharine Marie Koch. Not feeling well, she had retired to her room to rest and there quietly and peacefully went to sleep-the dreamless sleep of death.
Mrs. Koch, nee Wulfekammer, was born in Femme Osage, MO, December 3, 1861. At the age of 12 years her parents came with her to Holstein, where the acquired a farm near town. Here she spent the years of her youth, received her education and religious instruction, which culminated in the rite of confirmation, which she received April 14, 1876.
On March 12, 1885, she was united in marriage with A. Henry Koch. To this union five children were born, all of whom survive their mother. Her husband preceded her to the grave December 23, 1911.
Mrs. Koch was greatly devoted to her family. She was a kind and friendly disposition, which gained her many lasting friends. She suddenly and unexpectedly entered into rest Thursday afternoon, June 9, at 3:30 o'clock, at the age of 76 years, 6 months and 13 days.
She leaves to mourn her departure her five children: Alfred Koch and Mrs. Arthur Schoppenhorst of Marthasville, Paul of Treloar, Henry and Clarence of Holstein; six grandchildren, one great-grandchild, one son-in-law, two daughters-in-law; one brother Wm. Wulfekammer of Independence, MO; three sisters, Miss Emma Wulfekammer of Sedalia, Mrs. Martha Nagel and Mrs. Gottlieb Bozler of St. Louis; other relatives and friends.
The burial services, which were largely attended, were held Sunday afternoon from the home and the Immanuel Evangelical Church, the pastor, Rev. J.N. Schuch, officiating. The remains were laid to rest in the church cemetery.---June 11, 1938
