Orvie Ruth Metz, 86, of London, died Tuesday, November 15, 2005, at her home. She was born January 29, 1919, at Mallett Town, in Conway County , Arkansas to Roy Elisha and Cora Agnes Presley Norwood. She was a member of the Community Extension Homemakers Club; the Farm Bureau Women's Committee; the World War II Submarine Veteran's Women's Auxiliary; the American Legion Auxiliary, where she was recognized as a Gold Star Mother; and the Mill Creek Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Danny and Don Metz; three brothers, Robert, Wade, and Presley Norwood; and a sister, Nadean Robinson.
Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Thomas A. Metz of London; three sons and daughters-in-law, David and Charlet Metz, Tommy and Jennifer Metz, and Charles and Terri Metz all of London; a daughter-in-law, Mary Metz of London; three sisters, Mary Lee Kellar of Rogersville, Missouri, Virgnia Leach-Winegar of Conway, Arkansas, and Marie Seper of St. Louis, Missouri; eleven grandchildren, Cary Metz, Danny Metz and his wife Danielle, Amanda Metz, Grant Metz and his wife Jeanifer, Sheena Leavell and her husband Jason, Meagan Vincent and her husband Jason, E'Lisa Metz, Matthew Metz, Kayla Metz, Michaela Bowden, and Clay Metz ; and three great grandchildren, Elliott, Gracie, and Donavon Metz.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday, November 18, 2005, at Shinn Chapel with the Rev. W. A. Berg officiating. Burial will be in East Point Cemetery at Russellville under the direction of Shinn Funeral Service.
Pallbearers will be Ron Garrison, Mark Signor, Gwen Price, Charles Padilla, Tracy Price, and Bobby Metz.
Visitation will be 6 - 7:30 p.m. Thursday, November 17, 2005, at the funeral home.
