Grant Jouett Allin was born in Harrodsburg, Mercer, Kentucky (#30910402). His parents, Bushrod Warren Allin (#55481170) and Nancy Lucy Hawkins Allin (#55548166). He arrived in Texas at the age of 17 and worked for the Gulf, Colorado and Santa Fe Railroad. Jouett and Emma Barker married in 1890 in Copperas Cove. Both Emma and Jouett continued work for the railroad for several years. Jouett Allin became the towns's first mayor when it was incorporated in 1913. In additionto his mayoral service, Jouett Allin was a Banker, City Alderman, Landowner and member of several fraternal organizations, serving as both worshipful Master and Grand Master in area Masonic Lodges. Jouett Allin was a prominent resident of Copperas Cove, Texas, for many years.
