She was the widow of Charles Frederick Baarcke and the daughter of Isabel Foster Jordan and Louis Merriman Jordan and granddaughter of Captain Alfred Harrison Foster and Hettie Brandon Foster. Mrs. Baarcke was born in Union, SC on June 14, 1917.
Mrs. Baarcke was a graduate of Union High School and Converse College. She was a lifelong member of the First Presbyterian Church. Among her many contributions to the church, she was a Sunday School teacher and active circle member. She was a charter member of the Union Cotillion Club and a member of the Junior Charity League. She was also a member of the Woman's Study Club and a member of the Friday Book Club.
Mrs. Barrcke is survived by two sons, Charles Frederick Baarcke, Jr and his wife Caroline of Mt. Pleasant, SC and John McGough Baarcke and his wife Nancy of Union; four grandchildren, Charles Frederick Baarcke, III and his wife Mary of Charleston, SC, Caroline Marshall Baarcke of Charlotte, NC, Julia Baarcke Boeve and her husband Timothy of Clemson, SC and Claire Jordan Baarcke of Columbia, SC.
The family will receive visitors at the home, Pine Street, Union, SC, Sunday, October 26, 2008 from 5:00-7:00 PM.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Monday, October 27, 2008 at the First Presbyterian Church with burial at the Presbyterian Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 672, Union, SC 29379 or to a local charity of one's choice.
