JOHN AHRENS 95 DIES HERE SATURDAY
Batesvilles oldest citizen john Herman Ahrens Died at the Margaret Mary Community hospital here Saturday.
Nov 27 from Complications due to old age.
after only a few days of Serious illness.
Mr Ahrens was born near sunman the son of Henry and Mary Ahrens. on March 19, 1853.
He farmed for a great number of years in the Adams Church Community., But lived the last few years of his life in Batesville.. He married Sophia Niehaus on May 20, 1885.
And was a lifetime member of Adams Lutheran Chruch,
Survivors include 2 daughters Mrs Tillie Mellencamp of Seymour, and Mrs Lydia Gunter of Batesville. Two Grandchildren Lydia and William Mellencamp and one sister in Law Mrs William Ahrens Also Survive.
Funeral Services were held tuesday Afternoon Nov 30 at 1;15 at the Meyers Funeral home here and at 2 pm at the Adams Lutheran Church with Burial in the Church Cemetery.
Under the direction of Walter B Meyers Funeral Director.
Rev Joseph Radabaugh,Pastor officiated at the Services.
