THIRD ATTEMPT AT SUICIDE IS SUCCESSFUL
After two unsuccessful attempts to end life. Gilbert Bryant 68 charged with the slaying of his former wife, slashed his throat with a razor and died in the jail at Danville last Friday morning. Funeral services were held at the Funeral Home Monday at 2 P. M. and burial was at South cemetery.
Bryant was held in jail pending action by the Grand Jury in the fatal shooting of his former wife
Mrs. Pauline Shorter Bryant in a car near Danville on July 17 He was also accused of setting fire to
her home following the murder.
Immediately after the crime was discovered he attempted to commit suicide by cutting his throat and was taken to the Robert W. Long hospital for treatment, A few hours after being admitted he leaped from a fourth floor balcony to the third floor balcony and was prevented from further leap. Recovered sufficiently, he was returned to the jail at Danville.
Bryant asked Sheriff Porter Money for a razor to shave with Friday morning and slipping into his cell from the bullpen where three other prisoners were he slashed his throat and was found in a dying condition by the sheriff.

GILBERT BRYANT IS BURIED AT DANVILLE
Funeral services were held at the Baker Funeral home Monday for Gilbert Bryant age 71 years. who died Friday after he had slashed his throat while being held in the Hendricks county Jail accused of slaying his form wife He is survived by a sister Hester Rudd Bloomingdale. Burial was in South Cemetery Danville.

Gilbert was the last of 12 children born to William G and Ellender Wood Bryant. Henry Frances, John Marion, George W.
Sarah Jane, Hester Ann, Andrew Jackson, Daniel, Samuel McDowell, Mary Florance, Neonia, Zacharial Columbus.
