Mr. and Mrs. Charles Andrews, former residents of Cecil, now of Tulsa, Okla., were notified June 14 that their son, C.G.Jr., 20, first reported missing in action, was killed March 15. In a letter from commanding officer Capt. R.E. Bieneham, the following facts were given: "On the 15th of March, 1945, at about 5 p.m., Private First Class Andrews and another soldier were assisting a third soldier who was wounded. An artillery shell landed very close to the three soldiers and all three were hit. "It was impossible to evacuate them at the time because of the terrific enemy artillery mortar and small arms fire. The following morning a search of the area was made and no trace of any of the soldiers could be found. "The above action took place on the Siegfried Line outside of Saarbrucken, Germany."
