Funeral Today For Ex-Banker James Rowan
Decatur, Texas. Funeral services for James H. Rowan, a prominent landowner here and former President of the First National Bank of Rhome will be held Saturday.

Rowan, 84, died in a Decatur hospital Thursday night.

Final rites will be held at the Fundamentalist Baptist Church here at 2:30PM. Burial will be in the Thurmond Fairview Cemetery.

Rowan was born in Johnson County, but came to Wise County in 1871 with his parents, who settled in the Fairview Community. He was married in 1895 to Miss Catherine Thurmond of Rhome.

He was President of the Rhome bank until 1947, when ill health brought about his retirement, but he had lived in Decatur since 1920. He was a past President of the Chamber of Commerce here and was active in farm bureau and civic affairs.

Surviving are his wife; two sons, Allen T. Rowan and Floyd, both of Fort Worth; two daughters, Mrs. W.T. Cox of Olney and Mrs. Eileen Rowan Burge of Dallas; three sisters, Mrs. G.S. Ballard of Amarillo, Mrs. M.E. Evans of Tulia and Mrs. J.C. Dowd of Canyon; two brothers, T.H. Rowan of Amarillo and the Rev. J.B. Rowan of Spring Lake; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
