BURNS PROVE FATAL TO MRS. HELEN BROWN
Injuries received by Mrs. Helen(Ellen) Brown, who received serious burns about her face and body, Friday afternoon when she attempted to use gasoline instead of kerosene in an oil stove at her home in the Latimer section of Jackson County proved fatal. Mrs. Brown was taken to the Biloxi Hospital for treatment and died there Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock, the injuries and shock proving too great for her advanced age.
Mrs. Brown was 64 years old, a native and life-long resident of Jackson County and was well known through-out that section.
She was the widow of the late Thomas Brown, and leaves a large number of relatives, including eleven children, Frank Lockwood(sic), and Luther and Lyman Brown of Jackson County, Tom and Harry Brown of Gulfport, Burnell Brown of Biloxi, four daughters, Mrs. M.P. Johnson, Mrs. George Malley Jr., Mrs. Tony Malley, and Mrs. Joe Seymour of Jackson County; two brothers, Stutz Martin of Lumberton, Miss. and Jim Martin of Jackson County; three sisters, Mrs. Henry Cruthirds, Mrs. Cole Parker and Mrs. George Nobles.
Funeral was held from the residence at Latimer yesterday afternoon at 2 o'clock with services by Rev. Vaughan of the Antioch Baptist Church and interment was in the Antioch Cemetery in Jackson County.
