Mrs. Martha Jane Cooper Passes Away At Pine Level

Mrs. Martha Jane Cooper, age 74 years, died at her home in the Pine Level community last Thursday afternoon at two o'clock after an illness of twelve weeks. She had been suffering from paralysis. Mrs. Cooper was the widow of the late Marion Cooper, one of the county's well known citizens. She was a good woman and had many friends who are grieved at her passing.

She is survived by the following children: W.H., O.J., O.O., Marion, Oscar and W.M. Cooper; Mrs. Irene Clark, Mrs. Alma Bowden, Mrs. Bonnie Spurlin, Mrs. Bunie Spurlin and Miss Madie Cooper. She also leaves four brothers and four sisters, namely; James D., Jeff, Joe and Oscar Taylor; Mrs. Sarah Davis, Mrs. Babe Powell, Mrs. Julian Hudson and Miss Beaulah Taylor.

Funeral services were held at Pine Level Church on Friday with Elder Jack Mitchell conducting. The body was laid to rest in the church cemetery. The active pallbearers were: Noah Clark, Henry D. Jones, Dan Cowen, Clarence Ellenburg, J.W. Grimes and Ray McCart. Rhodes Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.
