Mrs. Melinda Christy Benge, daughter of Jonathan and Amanda Christy and wife of Wm. Benge died at her home 4 miles southeast of Floris, July 25, 1901. Mrs Benge was born April 11, 1872, and was married to William Benge, April 5, 1892. To this union two daughters were born who with the husband and many other relatives are left to mourn the loss of a wife, mother, daughter and sister. We do not sorrow as those who have no hope in our blessed Lord, for in Him she fully trusted in life, and when death was near she said," I gladly welcome death, for I am going to be with my Savior ." She professed a hope in Him four years ago and united with the Baptist church in Floris where she remained until death released her of the present life. Her funeral was conducted here by Rev. Miller of Eldon, after which the remains were laid to rest in the IOOF cemetery here to await the final resurrection morn.
