Robert Lewis Linear, 57, of Fairmont, departed this life on Wednesday (Oct. 15, 2008) at Wishing Well Health Center. He was born Jan. 27, 1951, in Fairmont, the son of the late Rev. John H. Linear and Edna Washington Linear. He attended Marion County schools and graduated from Fairmont Senior High School in 1969. Robert was baptized at an early age and was rebaptized in 2007. He was a member of the Morning Star Baptist Church. He was a former employee of Delta Airlines in Chicago, Ill., and was a retired employee of the City of Fairmont. He is survived by two daughters, Kellie Linear of St. Louis, Mo., and Marlana Linear of Atlanta, Ga.; two grandchildren, Deja' and Desiree Davis, both of St. Louis, Mo.; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Johnnie Womack of Fairmont, and Lucille (Herbert) Sanders of Sumpter, S.C.; his sisters-in-law, Lavota Linear, Sue Linear and Ruth Linear, all of Fairmont; several nieces, nephews and cousins; a dedicated sister-in-law, Linda Kelly of Morgantown; and two godchildren, Charles Echols III and Malecia McMullin. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six brothers, Harold, Nathaniel, Stanley, Lorenzo, Herbert and Austin; one sister, Emma Jean King; and one nephew, Chris Thompson. Friends may call at the Morning Star Baptist Church from 10-11 a.m. Monday. Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. at the church, the Rev. Wesley Q. Dobbs, officiating.
