David P. Batty, 63, of Chesterfield and formerly of Jacksonville, died at 3:05 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 17, 2008, at St. Mary's Hospital in St. Louis.
Services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Vandalia, with the Rev. Peter Kolb officiating. Burial was in Holy Cross Lutheran Church Cemetery in Vera. Visitation was held an hour before services on Wednesday at the church. Hohlt & File Funeral Home in Vandalia was in charge of arrangements. Mr. Batty was born on Jan. 17, 1945, in Jacksonville, the son of Charles Dale and Charlotte Cade Batty. He married Anna Bombal on Jan. 17, 1974, in Palace Verdes, Calif.
He was in commercial real estate management, and was a member of Lutheran Church of the Missouri Synod in Jacksonville and Vandalia Moose Lodge No. 1447.
He is survived by his wife; daughter, Jennifer and her husband Charles Pirerra of Springfield; son, Jeffrey Batty and his wife Donna of Springfield; and grandchildren, Carter Scott, Hillary Batty, Samantha Batty and Jullian Batty.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
