AGNES N. & JOSEPH C. REIS, 89 and 90 of Houston, Texas, died on September 9th and 11th 2008 within 37 hours of one another. They were married 63 years and had known each other for 75. Both were born in Baltimore, MD. Agnes was the daughter of the late James N. and Felicia Leonard Neville and the sister of the late Felicia Neville Doenges. She graduated from Mt de Sales Academy and Eaton & Burnett College of Business. In 1945 Agnes and Joseph were married. They moved to Houston in 1953. A homemaker, Agnes also did volunteer work with children, the mentally challenged and with M.D. Anderson Cancer Center. Joseph was the son of the late Joseph C. and Catharine Beckman Reis and brother of the late Alice Reis Flatt. He graduated from Mt. St. Joseph College. In 1946 he began working for Ayrest Laboratories and in 1953 was transferred to Houston as District Sales Manager for the company. He retired from Ayrest in 1983 after 37 years of service. From then until his death he spent his time volunteering and working with SCORE. He and Agnes also traveled extensively. They are survived by nieces and nephews, Neville Doenges Lassotovitch and her husband, Peter of Barrington, RI, Candace Flatt Thornton and her husband, Chris of Arnold, MD, Rev. Guilford Flatt and his wife Debbie of St. Clair Shores, MI and Joseph Charles (Mike) Flatt of Savannah, GA. They are also survived by 5 grandnieces, 3 grandnephews and 5 great grandnieces and nephews. A memorial Mass celebrating their life will be held on Monday, October 27, at 10:00 am in St. Michael Catholic Church, 1801 Sage Road, Houston. Interment to follow at Memorial Oaks Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in their memory to The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center, P.O. Box 4486, Houston, Texas 77210-4486.
