He had lived most of his early life in the Newport News area where he had worked in quality control for a shipyard. He moved to the Dry Fork area eight years ago and had worked as director of grounds keeping for the City of Danville. He was an eleven-year veteran of the US Army, having served as Sergeant in Vietnam.
He was a member of the American Legion Post 31 of Hampton, Va. He was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, Kenneth Randolph Brinkley, Jr. and Nathaniel Thomas Brinkley of Danville and Robert William Brinkley of Rustburg.
A memorial service will be held Monday, October 13, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at Swicegood Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Robert Law officiating.
