Joyce Terwilliger's passion in life was golf. A resident of Allied Gardens for 52 years, she was an ambassador to many Women's golf clubs around the county including Mission Bay, Mission Trails and Warner Springs Golf Courses. She devoted hours of her time scoring for the USGA and rating golf courses. In addition to golf, Mrs. Terwilliger was active in other community groups, including the Marvin Elementary PTA and the Allied Gardens Little League. She was also an avid bridge player and most recently was a member of the Allied Gardens Senior Club. Mrs. Terwilliger, 81, passed away peacefully at her home on October 5, 2008. She was born to M.J. and Imogene Browning on August 24, 1927, in Portland, Oregon. She moved to the San Diego area in 1950 and has been married for 56 years to her beloved husband and lifelong friend Joe Terwilliger. Mrs. Terwilliger worked in the banking industry for portions of 20 years, and became the ultimate domestic engineer when she and husband Joe adopted sons Michael and David. She will be deeply remembered and missed by all, especially her husband Joe, sons Mike and David, daughters-in-law Diana and Kelly, grandchildren Trevor, Beau, Holly, Dennis and Kathleen, two great-grandchildren, three nephews and three nieces. A Celebration of her Life will be held on October 18, 2008, at 3 p.m. at the Terwilliger residence, 5415 Dundee Ave., San Diego, CA 92120.
