Georgia was born July 10, 1928, in Fort Worth. She was a member of Hill Country Evangelical Free Church in Fredericksburg and a former member of Christ Church Assembly of God in Fort Worth. Georgia was a leader in many civic organizations including The American Business Women's Association, Desk and Derrick, Edgecliff Village Garden Club, Fredericksburg Garden Club, Kerrville Women's Chamber of Commerce and Woodmen of the World, which honored her as "2007 Fraternalist of the Year." Georgia's purpose in accepting these leadership positions was to provide help for others and scholarships for hundreds of students in the Metreoplex and, eventully, in the Texas Hill Country. She moved to Fredericksburg in 2003 and immediately became a volunteer for many organizations including the Golden Hub Senior Citizens Center, Fredericksburg Art Guild and the Fredericksburg Theater Group.
Georgia gallantly fought the cancer that eventully took her from us.
Her husband, Willie Jeff Davis, whom she married Jan. 19, 1946, preceded her in death.
Survivors: Son, James W. "Jimmy" Davis and wife, Beth, of Fredericksburg; grandsons, Scott W. Davis and wife, Kriste, of Lamesa and Jody L. Davis and wife, Melissa, of Lamesa; sister, Lerah E. Hackney of Springtown; two great-grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; and seven stepgreat-grandchildren.
