Judy Kaupp, 66, a resident of Anchorage, AK. And a former resident of Leavenworth, died January 10, 2006 at Providence Extended Care in Anchorage, Alaska from complications resulting from Multiple Sclerosis. She was born Judith Ann Avey on April 30, 1939, to James and Leona (Brownlow) Avey at Wenatchee, Washington, where she grew up and received her education, graduating from Wenatchee High School in 57.

She married Tom Kaupp in 1962.

They and their son Mike moved to California until 1968. The family moved back to Washington State residing in Redmond until 1975, when they packed up the family again, now including their daughter Wendy Lynn, and moved to Anchorage Alaska where Tom had grown up. Judy lived in Anchorage until 1982, when complications from Multiple Sclerosis forced her to be moved to an assisted living care facility in Leavenworth.

Between 1982 and 2003 she also lived in Sparks, NV. and Cashmere, WA. to be closer to family. In July 2003, she moved back to Anchorage to be near her son and grandchildren there.

After the move, her family said she enjoyed a renewed outlook on life and was able to see and do many things. She spent many quality hours with her son and her grandchildren. She enjoyed over 250 Books on Tape, listening to Seattle Mariners baseball games and being walked around in the summer sun around her care facility. She was also able to go to a Broadway play and spend regular time at a large shopping mall enjoying lunches with her family and people watching. Her family says: Judy was an extremely proud mother of two and grandmother of six. She lived her life with courage and dignity. She held firm to her faith in spite of her circumstances and she always had a smile to share with the people around her. She will be dearly missed by her friends and family. She was also a member of the Leavenworth Christian Fellowship Church.

Judy is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Lori Kaupp of Anchorage, Alaska and their children, Maressa Kaupp of Sussex, WI, Jenna Kaupp of Anchorage and Nolan Kaupp of Anchorage; daughter and son-in-law, Wendy Lynn and Anthony Autino of Sparks, NV and their children, Brandon Autino, Kelsey Autino and Katy Autino all of Sparks, NV; mother, Leona Avey of Wenatchee; sister, Shirley Keller of Wenatchee; brothers, Mike Avey of Anderson Island, WA and Steve Avey of Wenatchee.

She was preceded in death by her father, James Avey.
