Mr. Ben Chesnut, formerly of this county, but now of Knox, is now in the Barbourville jail, charged with the murder of his wife. Reports say that hand his wife quarreled over a lewd woman living in the neighborhood. Soon afterward his wife was taken suddenly ill and died and a postmortem examination showed she had been poisoned.

We are reliably informed that Uncle Ben Chesnut, who was in Barbourville jail on the charge of wife murder, has been acquitted of the charge, and given his liberty. This was the result of his wife's stomach being sent to an expert for analysis, who pronounced it all right, and that she came to her death from heart's disease.
