Ernie A. Allen, 64, Sullivan, died at 3:56 p.m. Sunday (January 26, 2003) in Sullivan Health Care Center.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday in Reed Funeral Home with Pastor Gene Godfrey officiating. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in the Greenhill Cemetery, Sullivan, with military rites conducted by Sullivan American Legion Post #68. Memorials are suggested to Lincolnland Hospice.
Ernie was born July 14, 1921 in Edgewood, Illinois the son of Forrest and Helen Willis Allen. He had owned and operated Allen's Service Center in Sullivan, was U.S. Army veteran of WW II, a member of Sullivan AMBUCS, George A. Sentel Massonic Lodge #764 AF&AM, Sullivan American Legion Post #68, and Sullivan Frist Bapst Church. He married Luise Haffier on February 2, 1948 in Heilbroom, Germany and she preceded in death on August 2, 1994.
Surviving are his Childers. E. Albert Allen of Collinsville, E. J. Allen of Cerre Gordo, Helena Luise Howard of Anaheim, California, Mary A. Copeland Stark of Olney, Lori L. Boehm of Shelbyville; brother, Richard Allen of Decatur; sister Erma Marmoll of Glen Ellyn, fourteen grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren and special friend, Lois Ledbetter of Sullivan.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and a brother.
