LUCAS- Services for DON PAIGE LEITER, SR., 97, of 65 Brightwood Blvd., will be held Monday at 1:30 p.m. at the Banks-Byerly Funeral Home, Loudonville, with the Rev. Larry Nelson officiating.
Burial will be in the Mt. Zion Cemetery near Lucas. Friends may call Sunday at the funeral home from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.
Mr. Leiter was born May 13, 1883 in Monroe Township, Richland County and lived his entire life in the Lucas area. He operated the D.P. Leiter Grocery for more than 30 years in Lucas and was a member of the Lucas Congregational Church.
He is survived by two sons, Don Jr. of Worthington and Parry of Mansfield: four daughters, Mrs. Willard (Leora) Darling and Mrs. Clarence (Ilma) Stetson, both of Lucas, Mrs. Kathleen Silcott of Phoenix, Arizona and Mrs. Marlee Morrison of Mansfield; 10 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Elaine Leiter in 1966.

Member of the Monroe Twp. Fire Dept, served as fire chief around 1935. Member of the Lucas School Board, President of the Lucas Village Council, also a Republican Committeeman.
Don Paige was employed at the Melco Electric Plant for a short time. He also operated a livery stable, and tried his hand at farming. In 1921 he opened a butcher shop and later a grocery store, known as the D.P. Leiter Grocery, which he operated until 1949.
Paige enjoyed watching or listening to baseball games, walking and gardening.
He died, age 97, at the Colonial Manor Health Center in Loudonville, Ashland County, Ohio.

An Open House was held at the home of Don Paige and Leta G. Parry Leiter with family and friends to celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary. They were married at the home of the bride's parents, Llewellyn and Mary Rummel Parry by the Reverend Williams.
