She was born Nov. 22, 1908, to Ernest and Marie (Scharma) Bahn in Germany. The family moved when she was 3 to Verdi, Minn., where she was raised and educated. She graduated from Verdi High School in 1926.
She married Garrett O. Meister on Jan. 7, 1934, at Verdi and they later moved to Milaca, Minn., where they farmed.
They moved to Leavenworth in 1945 where she worked as a clerk at the U.S. Post Office until she retired in 1973. She moved to Tacoma in 1991 and lived with her daughter.
Mrs. Meister was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Leavenworth and St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Wenatchee.
She is survived by a son, Leroy Meister of Paulsbo; a daughter, Velma Corey of Tacoma; two brothers, Alfred M. Bahn of Hardwick, Minn., and Herman Bahn of Pipestone, Minn.; 11 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1986, a son, three brothers and one sister.
