Martha Burnett was born in Hausville [sic, Hawesville], Kentuckey [sic] in 1841. She was united in marriage to Joseph Tomlinson June 19, 1859. Seven children were born to this union, all of them survive the mother. The children are: William, of Pittsburg [sic], Pa., Thomas, of Detroit, Mich., Myra Knight, of Salina, Kas., Martin, of Vandergraft [sic, Vandergrift], Pa., Arthur, of Christopher, Ill., Watler [sic, Walter] of Scranton, Kans., and Lula Ridinger, Auburn, Ill.
In 1878 the family came to Kansas and for 46 years the deceased has lived in Scranton. She died after a prolonged illness at her home on February 15, 1924 at the age of 82 years 10 months and 8 days. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. F.K. Resler [Pastor of the M.E. Church] at the home Sunday at 2 p.m. Feb. 17, 1924 and the burial was in the Scranton cemetery.
