ANDREW VINTON COTTRELL
Andrew Vinton Cottrell, son of Benjamin and Eliza Cottrell, was born in Wapello county, Iowa, February 13, 1865, the fourth of a family of nine children, and died in Chariton, Iowa, October 14, 1942, at the age of 77 years and 8 months. At the age of three he came to Lucas county and lived here until his death.
On July 4, 1892, he was married to Minnie Ethel Haines and to this union six children, one daughter and five sons, were born. He is survived by his wife; one daughter, Mrs. Dora Belle Hickman, of Chariton; four sons, Dewey Vinton, of Diagonal; Carl Andrew, of Russell; Herman Jesse and Lawrence Benjamin, both of Chariton; fourteen grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends who mourn his death. One son, Clarence, preceded him in death, dying in infancy.
Funeral services, conducted by Rev. Fred E. Miller, of the Methodist church, were held at one o'clock Saturday afternoon at the Beardsley funeral home, and burial was in the Chariton cemetery.
