Martha Almedia was a daughter of William and Emily Smithey Anderson. She was the first wife of Bynum Cephas "B.C." Souther. They were married in Wilkes County, NC on April 4, 1884. The couple had three children: William Henry, Huley, and Ephraim. Almedia died at the age of 32 years old and was buried in the Anderson family cemetery. Her husband remarried and is buried at Lewis Baptist Church in Wilkes County.
