The Paris News. December 11, 1974. 'Carl R. Cothran, 79, died Wednesday morning at Baylor Hospital in Dallas. He was a retired employee of Pollock Paper Co. Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a. m. in the Sunset Church of Christ in Dallas with graveside services to be held at 4 p. m. in Evergreen Cemetery in Paris. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Leverett and Steele Funeral Home in Paris. He was born Jan. 26, 1895 in Roxton, son of J. H. Cothran and Anna Gough Cothran. He married Verna Marie Ford in 1920 in Lamar County. She preceded him in death in 1961. He was a member of the Sunset Church of Christ and was a veteran of World War I, serving with the Army in France. Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. R. G. (Betty) Smith of Dallas; two brothers, Jewel R. Cothran of Dallas and John Cothran of Abilene; one sister, Mrs. Grover Taylor of Paris, and two grandchildren., Jay and Janna Smith of Dallas. Pallbearers were, L. A. Young, L. L. Stribling, W. E. Pettigrew, Hugh Pettigrew, Jack Taylor, and O. C. Ogletree'.
