David Griffith was born in West Pike Run, Washington County, PA. He was the son of Jacob Griffith & Lydia Hussy-Griffith. He married Hannah Barnes Reeves on July 4, 1822 in Westmoreland County, PA. They moved to LaSalle County, IL in March, 1857 to the south half of Section 25 Township north range east - being near the south east corner of the county & 5 miles from where the town of Ransom was afterward built.
