Hastings resident, Norbert Reining, 91, of 1319 West 6th Street, died Friday, October 3, 2008 at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital.

Rosary will be Monday, October 6, 2008; 7:00 P.M. at Butler-Volland Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, October 7, 2008; 10:00 A.M. at St. Michael's Catholic Church with Father Michael Houlihan and Monsignor Adrian Herbek officiating. Burial with military rites will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, Nebraska. Visitation will be Monday, October 6, 2008; 9:00 A.M. - 9:00 P.M. with family present from 5:30 P.M. - 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home and Tuesday, October 7, 2008; 1 hr. prior to service at the church. Memorials may be given to family's choice.

Mr. Reining was born January 6, 1917 in Lawrence, Nebraska to John & Gertrude (Blume) Reining. He served in the United States Army during WWII in the African Front from April 1942 until June 1945. After his discharge, he married Bessie Herbek on October 7, 1947 in Deweese, Nebraska. He worked at the Hastings Naval Ammunition Depot; Smidt Movers and had a 32 year career at Western Land Roller as a shipping supervisor. He was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, V.F.W. and was a 3rd Degree Knights of Columbus #1023.

Mr. Reining was preceded in death by his parents; 5 sister, Theresa Whitlock, Sophia Kitten, Leona Himmelberg, Frances Gilsdorf, Josephine Menke and a great grandchild, Evan Michel.

Children & Spouses: Ken & Jalayne Reining - Lincoln, NE
Mel & Marcia Reining - Hastings, NE
Jeanette & Richard Traudt - Parker, CO
