Mary King, 89, of Richland Center, died on Monday, September 15, 2008 with her family by her side at the Richland Hospital. She was born in Richland Center on April 16, 1919 the daughter of James A. and Berdella Kate (Rice) Robinson.

Mary graduated from Richland Center High School in 1936, and she celebrated her 70th class reunion last summer with classmates. Mary married Gifford Anderson on October 9, 1937 and the couple farmed together in the Richland Center area until his death in 1952. Mary and her children lived in Gotham after Gifford's death.

She married Lester King in 1958 and they farmed together in rural Richland Center until they retired and moved to Richland Center in 1981. Mary loved cooking for her family and always welcomed company at her table. Mary and Lester always had a large garden which they shared with everyone. Her pies and chicken and noodles were family favorites. Mary enjoyed word find books, puzzles, and her yard with all the birds and squirrels.

Mary is survived by five children, Janice (Jack) Bauer of Richland Center, June (Jerry) King of Milton, Joan (Avery) Ashmore of Fennimore, Stanley (Mary) Anderson of Richland Center, Linda (Don) Flinkinger of Billings, Montana, son-in-law, John Amble of Arena, 17 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, 14 great-great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, sister-in-laws, brother-in-laws, other relatives, and friends.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, husbands Gifford and Lester, a daughter Judy Amble, sisters Lucille Bateson and Rachel O'Day, brothers, Robert Robinson and Leland Robinson, granddaughter Teresa Anderson, and great-grandson Tony Feick.

Funeral Services were held on Saturday, September 20, 2008 at the Pratt Memorial Chapel in Richland Center at 11:00 AM with Pastor Mary Jefferies officiating. Burial was held at the Richland Center Cemetery.

Friends called at the Pratt Memorial Chapel on Friday, September 19, 2008 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM. Friends also called on Saturday, September 20, 2008 from 10:00 AM until the time of the Funeral Service at 11:00 AM.

The Pratt Funeral Service of Richland Center assisted the family with their arrangements.
