The Tipton Advertiser, July 5, 1877
DIED.
At her residence in Des Moines, Iowa, on Wednesday morning , June 27th, 1877, MARTHA, wife of Gen. Ed. Wright, in the forty-ninth year of her age.

The deceased was born Jan 3d, 1829, in Columbia county, Ohio. She was married to her now bereaved husband at Allegheny City, Pa., in March, '48; and in 1852 they came together to find a home in Cedar county, where they lived until in 1866 official duties took General Wright to Des Moines. Mrs. Wright had long been a great sufferer, having twice submitted to a surgical operation for the removal of a cancer--never rallying from the second one some months ago.

The personal worth and superior character of the deceased made her a great favorite wherever known, and there are very many in this county who will join in mourning her departure and in extending heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved husband and daughters, as well as to other relatives, some of whom we believe are still residents in Cedar.
